About Toolhose

Toolhose builds free calculators for the money questions people actually search for — what a pension contribution really costs, how much a Dubai landlord can raise the rent, what an Australian salary leaves after tax — and works each one out from the rules the government or regulator publishes, with the working shown.

Who runs Toolhose

Toolhose is an independent site run by a small team. We aren't a bank, an adviser or a lender, and we don't sell financial products — the site is funded by advertising, so the calculators stay free and the numbers aren't steered towards anything.

Who reviews the calculators

Arnold Gold, Product Manager reviews each calculator and guide against the official sources listed on the page before it goes live, and again when those sources change. His name and the date the figures were last checked appear on every finance page.

How we check figures

Every rate and threshold is read from the body that sets it — HMRC, the ATO and state revenue offices, the IRS, the UAE's ministries and regulators — and stored with a note of where and when it was read. If we can't verify a figure against its source, we leave it out rather than estimate it. Each region has a page listing every calculator, its sources and its last check:

Your data stays on your device

Almost every tool runs entirely in your browser: the salary, price or file you enter is processed on your own device and never sent to us. The one exception is the AI text summariser, which sends the text you paste to Google's Gemini to be summarised — it says so on the page. The privacy policy covers the rest.

Corrections

If you think a figure is wrong, email hello@toolhose.org with the page and the source you're looking at. We check every report against the official source and fix confirmed errors. You can also use the contact page for suggestions and tool requests.
